Permalloy sheets and plates are usually made of about 80% nickel and 20% iron with minor additions of alloying elements such as chromium and molybdenum to provide strength and durability. The special composition contributes very good magnetic permeability, high electrical resistance, and extremely low coercivity, making them a good choice for precision magnetic uses. They also exhibit stable mechanical properties like tensile strength, ductility, and hardness.
