Mu-metal round bars consist of about 77–80% nickel, 4–5% molybdenum, and the rest as iron and trace amounts of copper. The material is designed to be high in magnetic permeability and low in coercivity, particularly following appropriate hydrogen annealing. Such bars have moderate tensile strength ranging from 500–600 MPa and are good in ductility, thus being soft to machine and shape. Their unique magnetic characteristics enable them to efficiently redirect and absorb low-frequency magnetic fields, delivering excellent performance in electromagnetic interference (EMI) and magnetic shielding applications.
