Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium alloy with high iron, niobium, and molybdenum content, along with small quantities of aluminum and titanium. The composition provides high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance up to 700°C. Forged Inconel 718 fittings normally possess tensile strength in excess of 1240 MPa, yield strength approximately 1030 MPa, and reasonable ductility with elongation close to 20%. The alloy is precipitation-hardenable, and that makes it possible to achieve high toughness and strength without compromising weldability. It also resists oxidation, pitting, and stress corrosion cracking in high-pressure and corrosive environments.
