Inconel 617 is a chromium, cobalt, and molybdenum containing nickel-based alloy with a special mix of corrosion resistance, oxidation stability, and strength. The alloy has 20–24% chromium, 9–10% molybdenum, 44.5–61% nickel, and 8–10% cobalt. Forged fittings of Inconel 617 provide tensile strength of about 540 MPa and yield strength of about 300 MPa with a very good creep resistance in high temperatures up to 1100°C. The alloy is also carburization, sulfidation, and chloride corrosion resistant and hence very ideal for use in applications that require thermal and chemical stability.
