Inconel 617 is a nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy and possesses high-temperature strength and resistance to oxidation. Its composition is about 44.5–61% nickel, 20–24% chromium, 8–10% cobalt, and 9–10% molybdenum. Inconel 617 stud bolts provide tensile strength of about 540 MPa and yield strength of about 300 MPa while retaining good elongation and also good creep resistance up to 1100°C. The alloy resists sulfidation, carburization, and corrosion caused by chlorides, and is extremely suitable for fastening elements that are exposed to thermal cycling and hostile chemical environments.
