Mu-metal sheets and plates consist of about 77–80% nickel, 4–5% molybdenum, and the remainder of iron and trace elements such as copper. The distinctive alloy is formulated for high magnetic permeability and minimal coercivity. On hydrogen annealing, it exhibits outstanding shielding effectiveness. The material provides reasonable tensile strength in the range of 500–600 MPa and satisfactory ductility for easy fabrication. Its major mechanical attributes are high flexibility and low hardness, suitable for bending into complex geometries without sacrificing excellent magnetic shielding performance in low-frequency electromagnetic environments.
