Inconel 601 is an alloy of nickel-chromium-iron with additions of aluminum for superior high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance. It is usually composed of 58–63% nickel, 21–25% chromium, and up to 1.7% aluminum. Pipe fittings of Inconel 601 provide tensile strength of approximately 600 MPa and yield strength of approximately 275 MPa, and good ductility along with thermal stability up to 1200°C. The alloy is also resistant to carburization, sulfidation, and aqueous corrosion and can be employed in extreme conditions where both chemical and mechanical performance are essential.
